(Hong Kong – Aug 11, 2014) The Charterhouse Causeway Bay addresses the needs and vulnerabilities of underprivileged children. The hotel has always played an active role with charities to show its support to these children and to help to re-integrate them into society. As part of The Charterhouse Causeway Bay’s commitments, it has partnered United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) in joining its fundraising campaign since 2007.
The fundraising campaign is where guests can donate their loose change (local or foreign coins or notes) in UNICEF envelopes placed in all the guestrooms and then deposits the envelopes in the UNICEF donation box at the Front Desk counter upon their departure.
The Charterhouse Causeway Bay’s guests have made a great contribution to the campaign in which a total of HK$32,752 for these years has been raised. Mr Bernard Rodrigues, General Manager of The Charterhouse Causeway Bay presented a cheque to UNICEF, Ms Lorraine Tsang, Head of Fundraising and Ms Ann Choi, Assistant Manager- Corporate Fundraising to help the many underprivileged children in China with basic health, sanitation care and education on 4 August 2014. Mr Rodrigues said, “The total amount of money we collected will be donated to the UNICEF Hong Kong which is doing humane work to help the underprivileged children in China. The campaign could not have gone ahead without generous support of the hotel guests. We are grateful to all of them for their contributions. As giving back to the community has always been our key mission, The Charterhouse Causeway Bay will continue its support to this charity drive.”
Founded in 1946, UNICEF is the world's leading organization working for children and their rights in more than 190 countries. They believe that nurturing and caring for children are the cornerstones of human progress. They advocate for measures to give children the best start in life, because proper care at the youngest age forms the strongest foundation for a person’s future.
