Philippines Typhoon Relief – The Charterhouse Causeway Bay and World Vision join hands to support survivors in times of emergency
With HK$10/each bill, Your Help Brings Them HOPE Super-typhoon Haiyan, reported by media as possibly the strongest tropical cyclone in recorded history, struck Central Philippines on 8 November, resulting in massive destruction and casualties. Death toll has exceeded 2,000 and is expected to rise. The UN estimates that some 11.5 million people have been affected with 1.7 million being children.
Though power and communication outages and the destruction of major infrastructure have made it incredibly difficult to reach the survivors, the World Vision is making progress. About 780 households in Tabugon, North Cebu have received food kits and hygiene kits. The World Vision’s relief teams on the ground will continue doing assessment and distributing relief aid, targeting to help 400,000 people in the worst-affected areas.
Currently, the most urgent needs include access to food, clean water, and essential non food items such as sleeping mats, household supplies, hygiene kits and emergency shelters. To respond to these immediate needs and future rehabilitation needs, World Vision targets to raise US$20million globally for this typhoon relief.
The Charterhouse Causeway Bay is now supporting the World Vision to raise fund to help people affected by the typhoon in the Philippines. We sincerely need your support by donation through the below methods:
Room Guests - Donate HK$10/day of the staying period
F&B Guests – Donate HK$10 to the bill
